The pirate costume is one of the most popular, most elaborated and most attractive costumes. To have a realistic disguise requires some hard work. Here are some tips:
1. Pirate costumes for Women. Women should wear a skirt on the outside and cropped pants or leggings on the inside. For the blouse, go with a peasant style top with a corset to accentuate the chest and streamline the waist area. Complete the transformation with boots with a turned down cuff and a belt. Women pirate should appear ragged with slghtly messy hair. Bring on the scarf or bandanna over the hair. 2. Pirate costumes for Men. Men should wear either pants or leggings with black or brown bottoms. Other favorites are red-white stripped pants. Common accessories to both men and women that can be worn are the weapons, e.g. swords, pistols, dagger or wip. Others include a flag of Jolly Rogers which is a white skull with crossed bones under it on a black background.
One may imitate some favorite movie pirate personnel. For instance, Pirate of the Caribbean’s Captain Jack Sparrow. Jack Sparrow distinctive feature is his wig with dreadlocks and a thin beaded beard. Do not forget the compass and golden coins or jewelry.
